About Us

Our troop is growing with new scouts and families each year. 2019 marks our 47th year anniversary as a chartered BSA troop in Houston. Our troop size ranges usually between 50 and 65 scouts. Activities include: the weekly scout meetings, camping, cooking, fishing, hiking, knots, biking, games, kayak & canoeing (incl. moving water), rock climbing, summer camps, Court of Honor, fund raising, Philmont Training Center, Order of the Arrow, National Jamborees, High Adventures, National Youth Leadership Training, etc. Key for advancement, Merit Badges can be earned through troop sponsored counselors, summer camps, and merit badge fairs. Our scouts attend a variety of schools in West Houston including: West Briar Middle, Shadowbriar Middle, Barbara Bush Elementary, Memorial Middle, John Paul II, Village School, Askew Elementary, T.H. Rogers, St. Francis Middle, Strake Jesuit High School, Stratford High School, and Westside High School. Adults are encouraged to get involve with the troop as Committee Members, Assistant Scoutmasters, Boards of Review members, Coordination & planning with outings, and teaching Merit Badges. Training opportunities for adults include Climbing on Safety, Red Cross CPR/First Aid, Leave No Trace, Trek Safely, Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Canoeing and Kayaking for flat and moving water just to name a few. There are Adult Leader Training programs for Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters, include Wood badge Program and mandatory Youth Protection Training. AUMC sponsors Pack 37, Pack 73 and Pack 1038 of the Cub Scouts. Dens belonging to these packs meet at various times during the school year.
